Food Control

Food Control monitors the primary production, preparation, import and export, marketing, transport, keeping on the market, serving and other transfer of food. Food Control also monitors the production, import and wholesaling of food contact materials.

The duties of Porvoo Environmental Health Services include the monitoring of food premises in Askola, Lapinjärvi, Loviisa, Myrskylä, Pornainen, Porvoo, Pukkila and Sipoo.

Consumer

It is the responsibility of Food Control to protect the consumer from health hazards and loss of money caused by foodstuffs.

  • you have complaints about food quality, packaging labels or the operations of a food business
  • you wish to receive more information about food control or foodstuffs
  • you suspect you have food poisoning.

Entrepreneur

You can contact Food Control for example, if

  • you set up food premises or their operations change
  • you pause or cease food premise operations
  • you plan to import or export food
  • you plan to start operations related to contact materials
  • you plan to sell or serve food out of mobile food premises
  • you suspect a customer has contracted food poisoning from your product
  • you wish to receive more information about food control or foodstuffs.

The Oiva report is a public document written about the official checks of food premises. It offers consumers information about observations made during the checks, such as the business’s level of hygiene and product safety.
