Small-scale sales and serving of food
A notification does not need to be submitted for low-risk sales or serving of food if the operator is a private individual, the operations are small-scale and take place adjacent to other operations, or the operations cannot be seen as a business.
Such operations include small-scale sales or serving of food by private individuals, parishes, sports clubs or activity clubs, such as serving coffee or buns and biscuits.
More information about large-scale temporary preparation, serving and sales of food by private individuals is available on the page on pop-up restaurant activities.
Even if the labelling requirements do not apply to small-scale sales and serving, the Finnish Food Authority advises that consumers be offered sufficient information of the food: for packed food, you should announce the name of the food product, any ingredients that may cause allergies and intolerances (Annex II of the Regulation on Food Information), the amount of content and the preparation date. For unpacked products, you should announce any ingredients and products that may cause allergies and intolerances.
